Energy efficiency

Around 40 percent of energy consumption in Germany and about a third of CO2 emissions are attributable to building use. Energy efficiency and climate protection are therefore among the key issues in new construction and renovation.

Over the coming decades, enormous efforts will be required to achieve a climate-neutral building stock. At the same time, rising energy prices and CO2 pricing mean that the costs of operation will play an ever-greater role in the life cycle of buildings.

This is where our consulting services on energy efficiency come in to play, including in particular subsidised energy consulting for private individuals, companies, municipalities and public authorities. We also support our clients with building physics advice and verification, with energy concepts for individual buildings and entire quarters, as well as by providing specialist knowledge and our extensive practical experience.

Energy Consulting

After a detailed analysis of the building or construction planning, we advise our clients comprehensively on possible energy improvements, their economic efficiency and the use of subsidies. In doing so, we let our wide-ranging experience in building physics and from our architectural services flow into the consultation in order to be able to offer practical and economical solutions.

Building Physics

The physical influences with regard to heat, humidity, sound insulation and acoustics and the respective protective measures determine to a large extent the quality and durability of buildings. With our construction-physical advice and proofs, we contribute to achieving the desired qualities with economic and practical measures.

Concepts for Neighbourhoods

Within the framework of integrated neighborhood concepts, we show which technical and economic possibilities exist for saving energy in the neighborhood and how greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced, also taking cultural and social aspects into account.

Network and Knowledge Transfer

The challenges of climate protection and the energy turnaround in the building sector require extensive expertise and experience – both from consultants and planners as well as from building owners and operators. The constant increase in information and knowledge as well as frequent innovations and further developments pose particular challenges for all players.

An effective transfer of knowledge and exchange at events and in networks has therefore always been a central task of the Öko-Zentrum NRW. We bring together professional competence and extensive practical experience and communicate this in a wide range of offers and formats.
